タイトルは確か……
こんにちは。
ヨン様とハリー・ポッターの区別が徐々に付かなくなってきているねこぞうです。
突然ですが子供の頃、田舎の山奥を舞台にした児童小説を読んだことがあります。
自然に囲まれた村で過ごす少年達の所に、ある夏都会から美少女がやって来る……というお決まりのストーリーだったのですが、その村から町へ出るためにバスに乗った小学六年生の男の子がこんなことを言ってました。
「バスっちゅうのは便利なもんじゃ。乗っとるだけで、外の景色が変わっていくんじゃからのう。」
……マジなセリフです、念のため。
多分作者の方は、彼について「田舎者」というキャラを立てたかったのだろうと思います。
この直後に都会から来た少女（たまたまバスの後ろに乗っていた）に「バカじゃないの」と笑われるシーンもありましたし、物語上、このセリフの役割は理解できなくもありません。
でも一応１９８０年代辺りの話で、田舎といってもバスぐらいは通っている場所なのに、バスの原理をそんなUSJの3Dライドみたいに捉えている小学六年生がいるでしょうか。
ねこが編集者だったら、「先生、これはいくらなんでも説得力がありません」と言って、もう少しソフトな演出を考えてもらったと思います。
でも何でかそのままスルーされてしまい、出版されたみたいです。
多分編集の人の方がずっと年寄りで、「田舎ってそうだよなぁ」と納得されてしまったのかもしれません。
何で今更そんなことを思い出したのか分かりませんが、気になっていたのでここに表明しておきます。
あれはほんとに「やり過ぎ」の演出で、あんな田舎の子供はいません。
もし今、あの本を読んでる方がいらしたら、「ああ、田舎ってまだバスのことよく分かってないんだ」と勘違いしない様にお願いしたいです。
